Rodley Nature Reserve
Rachel visited Rodley Nature Reserve this week – a green oasis in our inner-city area. Located just off the Leeds-Liverpool canal the nature reserve is well worth a visit. The reserve is staffed entirely by volunteers – around sixty people volunteer regularly, looking after the marsh area and ponds, planting native flowers and plants, ensuring the reserve is accessible for wheelchair users, giving tours, supporting school trips and serving tea and coffee to visitors. Thousands of people in our area volunteer for local charities and organisations, and they are the life-blood of our community.
