Kirkstall Cricketers
Rachel visited the Kirkstall Educational Cricket Club this week, to see a junior training session in action, and discuss the progress of the club. Kirkstall Educational Cricket Club is an outstanding club, right in the heart of Kirkstall, and just a stone's throw from Headingley Carnegie Stadium. It runs junior teams up to under 15s, and also has three senior teams. It has received grants from the English Cricket Board for projects such as draining the outfield to help it cope in wet weather.
Rachel said, "The club is really amazing, the coaches are qualified and give a huge amount of time the the children and teenagers. There are some excellent stories from the club, of children who have started to play cricket, and are now still at the club years afterwards, after having been to university. Clubs like this really bind our communities together, and I encourage any parents and children to come along and get involved at the start of this new season!"
