Labour's Gerry Harper wins by election in Hyde Park and Woodhouse

On Thursday night Labour's Gerry Harper won the by election in Hyde Park and Woodhouse, caused by the sad death of the Liberal Democrat Councillor Kabeer Hussain.

Here are the results:

Lab    1,054 (48%, +15)
LibDem   671 (30%, -14)
Con      188 ( 9%,  +3)
Ind      150 ( 7%,  +5)
Green    140 ( 6%,  -5)

Lab gain from Lib Dem

Rachel commented, "This was a great result for Labour, and I want to send my congratulations to Gerry and his team. The result shows that Labour's local campaigning against the Council's plans are resonating with the public."
