International Development Secretary visits Farnley

Secretary of State for International Development, Douglas Alexander MP visited St Michael's Church in Farnley ahead of the full cabinet meeting in Leeds taking questions on issues including the Congo, Zimbabwe, credit unions and asylum seekers. The challenges we face in meeting the Millennium Development Goals and abolishing poverty across the globe are immense. The debate was well attended and excellent - it just shows that in times of economic difficulty we must continue supporting the poorest around the world. A huge thank you to Rev'd Derek Grasby for hosting the event.
